if you saw food, inc., you know our food supply has very little to do with food and nutrition and a whole lot to do with corporate profits and domination over farmers. slow food is an international, member-based movement that works to inform and inspire us to pay attention to what we put into our mouths and the impact it has on our selves, our communities and our planet.
closer to home, slow food usa has a vast database of local chapters of the slow food movement in your area. it is a terrific resource and a place to find out about action you can take to improve our food supply. right now, you can send an email or letter to the US department of justice – they are looking into how big business is controlling food and farming. here is all the info from the slow food blog.
the usfoodcrisisgroup.org has some templates and sample letters should you need them.
this is such an important first step. please email your letters to firstname.lastname@example.org by december 31st.
